Salmon is a versatile ingredient that can be served in a number of different ways. If you are a fan of this fish, read on to discover some of my suggestions for the different ways you can serve this great food source.

Poached Salmon – Salmon is packed with health benefits and by poaching this fish you will keep the calories low. When you have fitness meals delivered, they will often recommend that you poach the salmon or you can bake it in the oven.

It works beautifully with a traditional potato salad, which is an ideal dish for the warmer months ahead. Don’t be afraid of making too much either, as poached salmon can be enjoyed cold, so you have the perfect packed lunch to take to work the next day.

Grilled Salmon – Another healthy way to prepare salmon is to grill it. Add extra flavour with a chilli accompaniment. I’d opt for sticky sweet chilli sauce or chilli and lime butter.

Smoked Salmon – Smoked salmon is an excellent breakfast ingredient. The saltiness of the fish works perfectly with anything that’s crispy, which is why it tastes delicious on top of a toasted bagel.

If you want to enjoy smoked salmon for dinner then serve it up with crispy roasted potatoes.

Miso-Glazed Salmon – Salmon is often used in Asian cooking and this popular carrot-ginger dressing is the perfect accompaniment to the delicate fish flakes.

When serving miso-glazed salmon, you don’t want to overwhelm the flavours, which is why a side salad with light lemon vinaigrette is the ideal pairing.

Alternatively, if you’d prefer something more filling, you could opt to serve the salmon on a bed of bean sprouts and noodles for a quick and easy main.

Salmon Burgers – Salmon burgers offer a tasty and healthy alternative to beef. Top with a layer of lettuce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese to create a fresh and filling meal.

You could replace the Parmesan with tartar sauce for an upmarket fish finger sandwich.

Citrus Salmon – Lemon and lime work well with most fish and salmon is certainly no different. For a taste of the Caribbean, serve your citrus salmon with plantain.

Beetroot Salmon – Another ingredient that works well with salmon is beetroot. In fact, beetroot and salmon have common chemical flavour components, which is why they create an elegant, tasty and successful pairing.

As you can see, there are so many different ways that you can enjoy this versatile and healthy ingredient.

If you are looking to bring more salmon into your diet, try the suggestions that have been provided above. The good news is that most of them are really easy to do as well.
