When you personalise your new home you are making your mark on your new space. For most people, stamping their own personality on their home is vital… but where do you start?

If you have just purchased a new home you may feel as though you are moving into someone else’s space. You may find it hard to settle in and this can make you and your family uncomfortable. So what can you do to personalise your new home?

5 Easy Things You Can Do To Personalise Your New Home

Paint your Front Door

Painting your front door is far less of a commitment when compared to painting the whole exterior of your house. It will also give you way more bang for your buck.

If you want to take things to that next level, then add some shiny new hardware. This can include a new door handle, an upgraded letterbox or even new locks.

Use Personal Photos and Wall Art

Sometimes you just need to add some personality to the house. Get a few of your favourite photos and hang them on the wall. This is the easiest way for you to make your new house feel like home.

If you are worried about putting holes in the wall then use picture-hanging strips or a picture ledge. A picture ledge is super easy to make (your local hardware store will help you) so you place art works on the ledge, not on the wall. It has a rim so pictures don;t slide off. When you do this, you can easily add your photos without having to bang holes in the wall.

Change the Tapware

If you want to make a huge difference to your kitchen then start out by changing your tapware. When choosing a replacement, try and choose one that is sleek and modern. You also need to coordinate it with the hardware that you have.

If you want to make an even bigger change then you might want to replace the existing hardware as well. This won’t cost you too much but it will make you feel as though you are customising the space to some extent.

Paint a Wall or Two

Picking colours for your home can be daunting to say the least. Try and save yourself some trouble by painting an accent wall. When you do this, you can get some colour into the room without undertaking a huge task. You can also add some decorations that reflect this colour as well.

This is a fantastic way for you to make your home feel more like “yours” and you would be surprised at how fast it can be to get done. If you want to make a bigger change then why not knock down some walls? It’s important that you chat with a building consultant before you do this however.

Buy some Fresh Flowers

Sometimes all you need is a nice vase of fresh flowers. You can pick them up from your local grocery store if you want, or you can go out and pick them yourself. When you do this, you can make your room feel way friendlier too.

A lot of people think that they should just have flowers in the living room, but this is not the case at all. You can have them in the bathroom, in the bedroom or even in the conservatory. Remember that this is your space now, so be creative!
