Home Perfect is like Ground Zero; it’s the epicentre of your lifestyle and the place you go to every night. To make it YOUR home perfect, personalise these critical interior elements.

Many of us have a very definitive idea of what our dream home looks like. However, home perfect, like ground zero, is where the source of a functional and stylish home perfect starts.

The reality is that your dream home could actually be much closer than you would think. There are a lot of elements that play a role in making a perfect home, and it largely depends a lot on your tastes and budget, but there is plenty you can do.

Having an existing property is ideal because it gives you definitive scope for change and improvement. However, if you are buying a home, then there are critical elements to have on your wish list.

The core livability of any home must include space, light, air, views, privacy, and noise minimisation. This is Home Perfect, and there are ways you can get it!

Home Perfect: Space, Privacy and Views

Look at what you can do to expand your home, and where this might work best. There are loads of different ideas to keep in mind here, and you might think about loft conversions, and a garage conversion, a conservatory, or a second storey extension.

Whatever you choose to go with, you need to make sure you do it right, and figure out if you need planning permission.

Space can also be enhanced by installing bigger windows, increasing natural light drapes, louvres, blinds, using reflective surfaces and mirrors, embracing vertical stripes in wallpaper and drapes, and buying furniture that had legs, is wall hung or see-through.

Great view but no privacy? Use louvres, plantation shutters and wooden blinds on windows to enable you to control how much people outside can see into your home, enabling you to still see the view outside.

Home Perfect: Noise Control

Controlling the noise around your home comes via three main things – walls, windows and floors.

The flooring in your home can actually make a major difference to the whole look, feel and noise control of the property. There are a lot of things that play a part in this, and it can influence the other work you choose to do with the home.

Take a look at the 3 most popular flooring surfaces and decide what you feel would fit the best in your home. Consider noise control, hygiene, high and low traffic areas, budget and style.

You could have the most stylish floor in the world. However, if everyone gets woken up every time someone walks through the house then it’s NOT the flooring to choose.

Home Perfect: Light and Air

The best way to make your home look better, and look larger, is to make better use of natural light. Sure, artificial lighting plays a part in the way a home looks and feels, but you need to do what you can to make better use of natural light.

This will make all the difference to the property and will make your home feel more comfortable, stylish and inviting.

To let more natural light in, cut away bushes and trees that inhibit light getting in the windows. Move large pieces of furniture away from the windows and ensure drapes can be pulled back further than the width of the window.

If possible, place mirrors opposite windows to encourage more light to reflect around the room. Ensure air circulates well and that there are no ‘dead zones’ for light and air.

Home Perfect: Keeping It Modern

Often, working towards the home of your dreams can involve something as simple as modernising your home. This is something that plays a major role in the way you feel about your home, and how it comes across to others.

The more you can do to modernise your home, the better, and even something as simple as changing the colour scheme can go a long way toward helping with this.

These are just a few of the important steps you can take that will allow you to make the most of the home moving forward. There are a lot of things that play a role in helping you make the property better, and get closer to something you want. This is why it is so important to try these ideas out and see what impact they have.
