A great garden is the perfect place to relax in during the long summer months. Nothing beats coming home at the end of a hard day to your own beautiful outdoor area.
Breathe in the fresh air, reflect on things, or entertain guests. However you use your outdoor space, there are ways to create a great garden you’ll always love. Here are just a few ideas for transforming your garden into a wonderful outdoor haven for the whole family.
A great garden has a flexible entertaining area
Every garden should have a place to entertain guests. This is usually an area delineated by pavers or wooden decking. Choose garden furniture that is designed for relaxation and create a lounging area. Add a low coffee table or side tables where people can place their drinks. These are also terrific surfaces for tea lights and hurricane lamps. Separate the lounging area from the main dining area if you can. Whatever type of dining table you choose, ensure it doesn’t dominate the space. A big rectangular table could be placed towards the side, with ample seating for all your guests. Banquette and wooden seating should include cushions for comfort and throws for warmth.
This is the perfect spot to keep your BBQ, ready to use for gatherings and parties. When the night starts to draw in, think about what type of lighting and heating devices you will need to keep things going long into the evening. Standing heaters are a good choice as these are easily portable and can be positioned wherever people are sitting. In terms of the lighting, lanterns have a nice timeless feel or try grounded lighting. Be careful of putting naked flames next to foiage, of course, so hurricane lamps are great for protection from wind.. and lighting leaves.
A great garden has quirky touches
Ornaments and fountains are the perfect way to add a touch of individuality to your outdoor space. Think about a theme that you would like to follow. For example, you can add some oriental touches by bringing in a Japanese water fountain or classic statues of emperors. Alternatively, you could bring in some woodland creature figures and dot them about your garden hidden in the plantlife. Old agricultural implements make excellent, and quirky, garden sculptures. Or hanf mirrors from the trees.
A great garden has a purpose-built fence
Many people see fencing as being merely practical, so why not liven up your drab wooden panels with some colourful hanging baskets or other flowers planted along the bottom? Think about installing a fence that is different from the norm with plenty of advice available from Fencemakers Fencing Contractors. If you’re feeling particularly brave, you could even paint your fence panels in a different colour other than the standard mahogany. You can do the job yourself, which will be made all the easier if you try using a paint-spraying device of some kind.
A great garden offers fun, sun, and games
Whether you have a family or just want to do some entertaining, there are plenty of garden games that will liven up your outdoor area. An all weather ping pong table is a great choice and provides plenty of fun for all the family. Another good choice is a lawn croquet set, giving you an opportunity to try out a game which is totally different. Alternatively, there are plenty of giant board games out there like Snakes & Ladders or Connect Four.
