Cool bedroom design is for people who want something different, something unexpected, and something… well… COOL! As in ‘Rock Star Cool’

Your bedroom is the cosiest and most personal space in the world- so it should be somewhere that reflects you. Perhaps you’ve just moved into a new home, and what could be your new cool bedroom design looks like a blank canvas.

Maybe you’re just due for a refreshing update and want to create something beautiful and cohesive. If so, it makes sense to decide on a theme. That way, everything you buy will tie-in together making it easier to create the space you desire.

So if you’re looking for different cool bedroom design ideas, here are a few of the unique ones.

Stevie Nicks : Shabby Chic

Rustic, understated shabby chic looks feminine and pleasant. It can look sweet and romantic and is based on things like whitewashed wood, ruffles and florals amongst other things. If you’re the creative type, upcycled furniture is perfect for this look allowing you to create something unique without spending much money. Just add a pastel chalk paint and you’re good to go – no sanding or primer required.

Go with white or another light neutral on the walls, floral or ruffled bedspread, and flowy voile curtains work well. Some wooden shutter blinds to block out the light are a good option if you need the room dark. White wicker baskets placed on shelves, bunches of dried flowers, old doors as a bedhead, and mirrors leaning up against the wall.

Charli XCX : Industrial

Totally cool bedroom design. If you love the nonchalent and trendy look of industrial decor, this is easy to achieve at home. Brick wallpaper on the feature wall behind your bed can provide an interesting backdrop. Go with a metal bed frame and rustic raw wood furniture.

Exposed bulb light fittings and industrial style lamps in forged iornalso add to the theme. Wooden floors or plain grey carpets would both work here too. Think brock, concrete, wood, and metal softened with velvet, chunky knits, sheepskin, and a neon light that spells ‘Club X’.

Mariah Carey : Glamour

Want something that looks really glamorous and luxurious? Things like a four poster bed or chesterfield sleigh bed, high gloss or mirrored furniture and luxury textiles like silk bedding, velvet throws, wool rugs and billowing curtains all make this theme come to life. A chandelier and fancy lamps, a dressing table with a mirror lit up in lights, and beautiful artwork would all be good additions. Plus anything in gold.

If you like your decor a little darker, black and other sumptuous colours work well with this theme. Just be careful, especially with smaller rooms that you’re not making them appear too small. If you work with an interior designer like Sasha deBretton they will help you to bring your vision to life, and let you know what will and won’t work. This could save you money too as you won’t be buying things that don’t look right!

Icona Pop : Scandi

Scandinavian decor has really taken off recently. This is a minimal style with a pop of colour which works especially well in smaller spaces. The main features of this room are white walls and pale wooden floors.

You’d then choose one or two items, whether it be a chair, a cushion or a rug in a colour to make it stand out. Yellow, navy and blush pink are all good options. Scandi decor isn’t about clutter or having lots of things on show, so if you like to keep things simple this would be a great style to consider.

When it comes to cool bedroom design don’t follow the crowd; be an individual. Because if you can’t go crazy decorating your OWN bedroom… then where can you?
